Kanye West caused quite a stir with his DONDA listening event at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The city showed its appreciation for the attention he brought to city by honoring Kanye West  with his own day in the city.  The mother Kanye West’s workplace also paid tribute to the rap star.  Dr. Kevin James, the President of Morris Brown College, gave him the a special award. according to TMZ.

The whole building was entertained when ‘Ye dropped all the surprise artists on Donda such as Lil’ Baby, Pop Smoke, and his “Watch The Throne” collaborator Jay-Z.  After the event the rap mogul received two major awards. He accepted a certification that his own day was instated in Atlanta, making July 22 “Kanye West Day.” Earlier in the day Dr. Kevin James reached out to Kanye and the mother of his children about presenting him with a resolution of meritorious service for his mother Donda.

Donda began her career teaching at Morris Brown College, staying there for nearly two decades. Kanye was reportedly emotional while accepting the award on his mother’s behalf as he was surrounded by family, including Kim and Khloe Kardashian, who were both spotted backstage.

As the world waits for DONDA to officially arrive on streaming services (any day now, ‘Ye!). Despite not delivering the actual album as announced for Friday July 23rd, the live streaming event garnered an excess amount of traffic on Twitter last night creating hashtags of various words as the event opened and closed.
