Birdman Says He Paid Over a Billion Dollars To His Artists

LEGENDS & ICONS OF HIP HOP - Post By Kevin Douglas

Cash Money Records is one of the most successful hip hop labels in history and its founder claims to have given artists over a billion dollars over the years.

The history of Lil’ Wayne and Birdman’s financial disputes over the years have been well documented. The “father and son” rap duo ended up in legal wranglings when Lil’ Wayne felt he was getting underpaid from the boss of the label. The producer behind the hits of Cash Money Records, Mannie Fresh, has also called out Birdman for lack of payment over the years.

Despite these hiccups in the past, Birdman hit the “Big Facts” podcast and gave insight into how much money his artists have made for their art over the years. He also gave his thoughts on who he believes will be the richest and biggest rapper in the coming years. “I think NBA YoungBoy might be the biggest rapper,” said Birdman. “Ain’t no n***a gone be bigger than NBA YoungBoy, numbers don’t lie, he’s the biggest YouTube artist and he behind the wall. When that lil’ boy get his mind right and he comes from under this bullshit and understands who he is, you know, [Young] Thug and all them, they’re up in age, they’re 30, this n***a 20. And you put a n***a behind the wall, they become smart. They ain’t making him nothing but a monster. So when he gets out, he’ll know one thing. The shit he was doing, he don’t got to do because he can get this lil’ n***a here. NBA YoungBoy, that shit ain’t normal. He nothing normal. He special. Big money right there. I think he’s a billion-dollar n***a, in the flesh. He gon’ get it in touring, merch, music. We can’t do nothing about it.”

In the same interview, he claimed that Cash Money paid Lil Wayne $500m, Drake $500m and Nicki Minaj $350m. Check out the clip below.
