Cardi B Breaks Another Record on Billboard Charts

Cardi B continues to stay one of the hottest hip hop artists as she now becomes the second woman ever to replace herself at No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop airplay chart. The song that has given her this accolade is Pardison Fontaine’s “Backin’ It Up” which has grabbed the top spot on the chart this week. The song bumped  “Money” by Cardi B to the No.2 position.

Cardi’s top charting for the week doesn’t stop there. The City Girls’ “Twerk” now ranks at No. 3 which has created the Bronx rapper to be on the same chart three times. This has made Cardi B the first woman and only the third act ever to hold the chart’s top three positions at the same time. The only other two artists to do so are Drake and Lil Wayne

Nicki Minaj was the only other woman to knock dethrone herself off the charts with another song as No.1 and it happened in 2015.  The single was with Rae Sremmurd’s “Throw Some Mo” which was replaced with Nicki Minaj, Drake and Lil’ Wayne with “Truffle Butter.”

“Backin’ It Up” received a 9 percent boost in plays during the week ending March 3rd, putting an end to the five-week domination held by “Money.”
