Townsend revealed Cardi and Megan’s hope to star in the potential remake when talking with Slash Film about mixed reaction to the 1997 movie. “It’s so funny because people want a sequel to that,” said the Townsend Entertainment founder. “[There are] people that love, love, love the film and some people that didn’t get it. And those that love it – like you love it and you get it.”

Townsend also added, “I’ve had people go, ‘Hey, we want to do a remake.’ Everybody from Megan Thee Stallion to Cardi B is like, ‘Could we do…’ I mean, it’s like, I don’t know. So, thank you for asking.”

“B.A.P.S.” stars Halle Berry and Natalie Desselle as two “Black American Princesses” who adventure from Georgia to California, attempting to win a video dance girl contest. The plans swiftly change as the women scheme to deceive a wealthy white man.

The movie follows the story of two friends, Nisi (played by Halle Berry) and Mickey (played by Natalie Desselle-Reid), who work as waitresses in a soul food restaurant in Georgia. They dream of becoming rich and famous, and their chance comes when they hear about an audition for a music video.

Nisi and Mickey travel to Los Angeles to audition, but the audition turns out to be for an eccentric millionaire named Mr. Blakemore (played by Martin Landau) who is looking for a new heir to his fortune. Mistaken for socialites, Nisi and Mickey are hired to be Mr. Blakemore’s personal assistants for a week, with the promise of a million dollars if they impress him.
