CBS News President Talks About Threats Against Gayle King

Gayle King got thrust into attacks from fans of Kobe Bryant after the recently deceased NBA icon’s rape allegations were brought up in an interview with WNBA player, Lisa Leslie. The controversy escalated on social media when rap star Snoop Dogg took aim at the CBS reporter.

Sometimes these heated discussions die down after a short time, but this doesn’t seem to be the case for Gayle King. The CBS This Morning host has reportedly been receiving violent threats from people who were angered by her disrespecting the legacy of Bryant while the world was mourning his recent passing. Even the wife of disgraced comedian and actor Bill Cosby took to social media to blast Gayle’s attempt at bringing up past issues of Bryant before he has been buried.

CBS News President Susan Zirinsky came to King’s defence in a statement made to the Associated Press. “We fully support Gayle King and her integrity as a journalist,” Zirinsky said. “We find the threats against her or any journalist doing their job reprehensible. The interview with Lisa Leslie was comprehensive and thoughtful. We are a country where differences of opinion are welcome, but hateful and dangerous threats are completely unacceptable.”
