Choclair was celebrated last night February 17th in Toronto by promoter Fred E. Fame for his contributions to the hip hop scene for his country. Before Drake made international headlines there was a kid from Scarborough making waves that landed him a major record deal. He wound up doing songs with hip hop legends such as Kurupt from the Deathrow Records group Tha Dogg Pound. He also received Juno awards for his work and started trends for his city. WWETV flashback of the day includes our interviews with this Canadian hip hop icon. In the video below he speaks about being one of the first rappers to have his own shoe line with Reebok.
Choclair discusses old school hip hop and more. He explains how he started in the hip hop scene in The Six. The Toronto MC has performed with a who’s who of hip hop from Busta Rhymes to Redman to Wu-Tang Clan to even the Godfather of Soul James Brown. He speaks his mind on what he feels is the difference between the new school and old school.
Choclair speaks about how he crafts the content for his music and also gives us the advice the Godfather of Canadian Hip Hop gave him about doing live performances. Our host Little T continues to chop it up with the member of The Circle as he lets us into his world once again.
