It started out a simple promo for WhistleSports, but it turned out to a body shaming segment of rapper Coi Leray.

The world of entertainment has been known for having certain types of body structures that are marketed to the world. From the early days of Marilyn Monroe back in the 1960’s to Madonna in the 1980’s, the idea of a European slim body has been seen in pictures and television.

During the 1990’s with more music videos from the world of hip hop, people started to see different type of body shapes through music videos from Sir-Mix-A-Lot such as “Baby Got Back” that promoted women of heavier status with huge derrieres. It would soon become a fad when Jennifer Lopez became famous for her big booty. It became truly mainstream and accepted by all segments of society through the likes of Kim Kardashian.

In recent times, there has been a turn to accept women of bigger size such as Lizzo and Megan Thee Stallion. However, it seems the traditional slim body of Coi Leray has led to body shaming that she does not have the size of the aforementioned women.
