According to NBC, the couple of Mark McCloskey and Patricia McCloskey is now facing two counts each for exhibiting a weapon and tampering with evidence. Their lawyer called the charges “baseless,” and said they will deal with it accordingly. At the moment it is not clear what kind of evidence prosecutors presented to the grand jury to land the tampering with evidence charge. Nonetheless, if you remember, back in July they were also charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon.
At the time, St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner said that it was illegal for the couple to “wave weapons in a threatening manner at those participating in a nonviolent protest.”
The two went viral when protestors stepped onto their territory during a Black Lives Matter march during the summer.
