Verzuz fans, get ready! Hip-hop moguls Diddy and Jermaine Dupri are confirmed to go head-to-head in a hit-for-hit battle on September 8th at The Garden, according to an announcement made on Busta Rhymes’ Instagram page.
“September 8th at the Garden, n***a,” Diddy tells Busta and Fabolous. “We’re gon’ have you out the rafters flying out the sky.” Busta added in the caption, “Sounds like we have an official date for @diddy @verzuztv @jermainedupri,” he wrote in his Instagram caption.
Although Diddy has confirmed the event, there has been no formal announcement from Verzuz creators Swizz Beatz or Timbaland, and Jermaine Dupri has not yet commented on the date. Fans have eagerly anticipated this battle between the two hitmakers, who have expressed interest in facing off against each other in the past.
Last year, Diddy and JD had made plans to battle each other on Instagram Live but later decided to showcase their respective labels’ history and influence on hip-hop and R&B rather than compete. JD later confirmed that they would indeed go hit-for-hit in 2023, and he hyped up the upcoming event, comparing it to the Super Bowl.
Verzuz has been relatively quiet since last summer, leading fans to speculate that Swizz Beatz and Timbaland are planning some big battles for the return of the iconic live stream series. Stay tuned for more details on this highly anticipated battle between Diddy and JD. In the meantime, who do you think will win: Team So So Def or Team Bad Boy?
