Rubble littered some Gaza City streets early Tuesday after a series of Israeli airstrikes followed militant rocket attacks, one of which struck an apartment in Ashkelon, injuring six Israelis.
Hamas militants have fired rockets towards Jerusalem, after demanding Israel withdraw forces from around the al-Aqsa mosque in the city. Nine Palestinians were then reported killed in the Gaza strip, after Israel retaliated with air strikes.
