A young budding star will not see her full potential due to dying to a brain tumor. Star of Disney’s Queen of Katwe Nikita Pearl Waligwa has died aged 15 according to The Sun. Doctors found a tumor in 2016, but was told she was cancer-free after radiotherapy. Coincidentally her mother Rachel Asiimwe Waligwa was diagnosed with cancer and given just two months to live. The mother beat the cancer and it was seen as a “miracle”.
Oscar award winning Lupita Nyong’o took on the role of Mutesi’s mum, and David Oyelowo played her chess teacher in “Disney Queen Of Katwe”. Ugandan media reports she tragically died on Saturday night at TMR International Hospital, in Naalya, Kampala.
