The beef between Kanye West and Drake is no more, according to Karen Civil.
“No Child Left Behind” single ad played during the NBA Finals on Tuesday night creating buzz for Kanye West’s latest “Donda” album release for later this week. West is going all out with the rollout as he will appear in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz stadium and Los Angeles for the annual Rollout music festival to help promote the project.
Fans have also been anticipating when Drake will finally drop his next album “Certified Lover Boy” as well. As hip hop fans know, Drake and Kanye have been frenemies for quite some time which only increased tensions arose when Pusha T dropped a diss song towards the Toronto rapper was produced by ‘Ye. During his Wyoming studio sessions, Kanye West was working with Drake, offering to send him a sample that Drizzy was a fan of and when they fell out, ‘Ye dropped his infamous “poopity scoop” bars on “Lift Yourself,” which essentially blocked Drake from using the sample.
Some fans believed since the two aren’t on speaking terms perhaps Drake will continue the beef between them by trying to sabotage Kanye’s release with dropping his highly anticipated album on the same day to hurt his sales, but according to industry executive Karen Civil, that’s not going to happen.
“They friends now,” revealed the journalist on Twitter. “He not [gonna drop on the same day].”
The response from Karen Civil is being noted by other blogs such as Hotnewhiphop due to her having a great track record and generally only comes through with legitimate takes.
If the two men are indeed on speaking terms, could we see the rappers coming together to have a “Verzuz” as some have dreamed of? Or how about them dropping a surprise collaboration on either of their projects? Time will tell!
They friends now.. he not. Lol
