Dwayne Morgan On Meeting Barack Obama & Upcoming Canadian Congress Event

Dwight Morgan spoke with WorldWide Entertainment TV Podcast about an important event being held by the Canadian Congress this week and reminisces on the time he performed for President Barack Obama.

Performing as a spoken word artist for many years in Toronto, Morgan has expanded his repertoire to include motivational speaking and event organizing. He has received accolades for his work in the community that include the African Canadian Achievement Award for Youth Achievement, and the Harry Jerome Award for Excellence in the Arts in 1998.

Dwayne Morgan expressed his feelings on receiving a star for his induction into the “Scarborough Walk Of Fame” for the things he has accomplished that was a betterment for his community. He discussed on the WWETV podcast why he has the passion for what he does and described the process he goes through creating his craft. Jumping from writing poetry to publishing books, Morgan has an appreciation for great writing ability.

POETRY & HIP-HOP

Although not being a hip hop artist, Morgan states that rappers are “cousins” to poets, and he explained why he chose Lauryn Hill over Nicki Minaj and Lil’ Kim in terms of being the greatest female rapper in history. It came down to having a superior aptitude for writing lyrics and also being able to perform against any man or woman.

Morgan has also stepped into the field of producing. , Morgan has now produced over 100 events, the largest of which are the annual spoken word concerts When Brothers Speak and When Sisters Speak, and the Toronto International Poetry Slam on Labour Day weekend each year.
