Eva Longoria receives criticism for comments during appearance on MSNBC comparing the impact of Black women in Georgia and Latina women on Joe Biden’s projected presidential victory. Before revealing her pride and appreciation of the impact Latina women had on the 2020 presidential election, Longoria said “Of course you saw in Georgia what Black women have done but Latina women were the real heroines here.”

Eva Longoria received backlash for comments and social media let her know that they didn’t appreciate her supposed slight on black women.

Kerry Washington took to Twitter to defend her friend and to inform everyone to prevent the division of races.

In 2016 many of our communities came together to fight evil. We knew that we would ALL be under attack & we started to work with & for each other. Let’s continue that work! Let’s not allow fear to pit us against each other. “Nobody’s free until everybody’s free” Fannie Lou Hamer

Some were in agreement with Kerry Washington, but others were not so positive about her message.

Washington would also co-sign the apology made by Longoria about the comment.

I know Eva like a sister. We have been in many trenches together. She is a fighter for all women. Read below. This is what she meant. This is how she truly feels.

Longoria explained that she was referring to Latino women having a bigger voter turn out than the Latino men which helped to get Joe Biden elected. She stated she has nothing, but love for black women and does not want to contribute to the history of anti-blackness done by her community.

The online community reacted to her public statement with differing opinions.
