One of the biggest rap beefs in female hip hop history involved Foxy Brown VS. Lil’ Kim and now it seems Brown came to the defense of Nicki Minaj.
As “The Barbz” came out on social media to give the reasons why Nicki Minaj should and shouldn’t accept the challenge, Foxy Brown fans were asking why didn’t Lil’ Kim put the challenge out to her peer and rival of the 90’s. The Brooklyn rapper called out Nicki during an interview with The Breakfast Club’s DJ Envy at the 2021 BET Awards red carpet.
It makes sense as both Lil’ Kim and Foxy Brown were the dominant forces in the mid to late 90’s representing New York hip hop. However, the rise of Nicki Minaj and her past issues with Lil’ Kim would also make a historic showdown on the Verzuz platform.
Foxy took to Instagram to seemingly respond to Kim. In a series of tweets she subliminally called Kim “shook” and “thirst.” It appears to many that Brown was speaking to none other than her arch nemesis.
These women beef is well documented and reached mainstream news in 2001. The entertainment magazine program, EXTRA, spoke to Foxy Brown about the their troubled history together in the video below.
Lil’ Kim also made waves at the BET Awards in 2021 for her performance tribute to the legendary and groundbreaking female rap icon, Queen Latifah, by rapping her award winning “U-N-I-T-Y” single. Could all the women unite for an explosive and memorable Verzuz? Time will tell.
