Receiving eight Grammy nominations is reason to celebrate, but H.E.R. has received some unfounded backlash for her accolades.

The album “Back Of My Mind” is getting a lot of industry love it appears through the committee that runs the Grammys. Despite being critically acclaimed, H.E.R., who is usually touted for his past work is getting mixed reactions.

Some people feel that H.E.R. is cheating the system because of the belief that her father is on the committee that helps shape the award show nominations. In excitement, H.E.R. jumped on social media to celebrate her eight nominations. Praising God, she stated, “8 Noms. WOW GOD IS GOOD.

The Recording Academy made sweeping changes to its selection process this year, removing anonymous nomination review committees that determined contenders for key awards. This has not stopped people from thinking the suits behind the event are still not playing politics with picks. A few fans let their voices be heard about not approving the Grammy’s decisions to give H.E.R. so many nods. The rumor mill has her getting assistance from her father Kenny Wilson who some claim is on the board. This has not been confirmed, but it something that is trending.

A Twitter follower pointed out, “Your dad did his thing,” but was rebutted for not doing research by a hip hop media platform. 

It can’t be denied that she does have industry connects, but it is unfair to assume that she got all these nominations because of those connects. Her record company is undoubtedly fully behind her work and rightfully so with her talent. Discussion also broke out over Beyonce‘s early days as a solo artist and rumors of her being assisted by her manger/father Matthew Knowles.
