Diva & Vixens- Karen Smith Article

The first All-Female Hip-Hop Album, executive produced by Halle Berry and Cardi B for the “Bruised” soundtrack that stars Halle Berry.

“I can’t wait to show it,” Berry tells Variety. “I have to tell you, one of the things I’m most excited about is the title song that H.E.R. sang… and she killed it. So I can’t wait to share with everyone and am super excited.”

The movie “Bruised” sees the iconic star performing in a physically demanding role. It will premiere at the AFI Film Festival on Nov. 13. The star studded soundtrack includes hand picked artists by executive producers Berry and Cardi B, the film’s soundtrack features six original songs by award-winning and multi-platinum female artists, including Cardi B (“Bet It”), Saweetie (“Attitude”), City Girls (“Scared”), H.E.R. (“Automatic Woman”), Flo Milli (“Blast Off”) and Latto (“Tha Fuck”).

Additionally, the album features seven previously unreleased “inspired by” tracks from a roster of new music artists that includes Young M.A. (“No Mercy”), Baby Tate (“Dungarees”), Rapsody (“She Bad”), Erica Banks (“On They Neck”), Big Bottle Wyanna (“Aye”), Ambre (“Sweater”) and Dream Doll (“Chacin”).

Jackie Justice (Halle Berry) is a mixed martial arts fighter who leaves the sport in disgrace. Down on her luck and simmering with rage and regret years after her last fight, she’s coaxed into a brutal underground fight by her manager and boyfriend Desi (Adan Canto) and grabs the attention of a fight league promoter (Shamier Anderson) who promises Jackie a life back in the octagon. But the road to redemption becomes unexpectedly personal when Manny (Danny Boyd, Jr.) — the son she gave up as an infant — shows up at her doorstep. BRUISED marks the directorial debut of Academy Award winner Halle Berry and also stars Adriane Lenox, Sheila Atim, Valentina Shevchenko, and Stephen McKinley Henderson.

Halle Berry showed her appreciation and fandom for MMA when she recently made a guest appearance for the UFC strawweight weigh-ins between champion Rose Namajunas and former champion Zhang Weili for UFC 268 co-headlining title rematch at UFC 268.

Check out the reactions to the all female soundtrack below. Of course, there is one huge name missing from the project and her “Barbz” let Halle Berry know that they were not pleased that Nicki Minaj is absent. It would be very possible she wanted nothing to do with it or the more reasonable concern of having Cardi B and Nicki working together being a fruitless endeavor.
