Jermaine Dupri Responds To Cardi B with SoSo Def Female Cypher

Cardi B took to Instagram to respond to the accusations hurdled at current female rappers all sounding like strippers on songs. by Jermaine Dupri.

Following the backlash of stating that women rappers aren’t versatile with their lyrics, the So So Def boss announced a new So So Def Female Cypher. He made the reveal on Friday (July 12) via Instagram.

“After all the calls, DMs, angry tweets and other messages saying ‘I am a major gatekeeper in the hip hop world, why don’t I invest in a female who is out here hustling and making a name for herself?’ I decided to create the #SoSoDefFemalecypher,” he captioned the image. “details coming soon.”

It should be duly noted that Jermaine Dupri was the first producer to have a solo platinum selling female rapper in Da Brat. She first appeared on his other successful teenage rap group Kris Kross on the single “Da Bomb”.

Jermaine Dupri credits Da Brat for paving the way for the likes of Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and more by “breaking the mould” of a female rapper.
