Jerry Springer was a staple of 90’s television with his infamous talk show after his namesake. The show started out as a very serious platform with delicate issues.
As the 90’s moved into the middle part of the decade reality tv and talk shows started to become the rage. The battle for viewers was intense and somewhere along the line Jerry Springer found a way to take over the talk show scene with a crazy show that had fights and other stunts.
Another form of entertainment that was picking up steam in the 90’s were court room shows especially after the drama of OJ Simpson and the case he endured about the murder of his ex wife Nicole Brown-Simpson. Judge Judy slowly became one of the richest woman on television with her show.
Now in the year 2019, the return of Jerry Springer is imminent as he comes back as a judge. In a statement according to Vanity Fair.
‘Judge Jerry’ will merge Jerry’s talent for connecting with people, his incredibly relatable and funny personality and his legal training and governing experience to bring viewers a more entertaining court show,” said Tracie Wilson, exec VP of creative affairs for NBCUniversal Television Distribution. “We are so happy to continue our fantastic partnership with Jerry, who is a proven TV icon with a dedicated and broad fan base.”
