CNN is reporting that Jussie Smollett of “Empire” fame has been charged by Chicago police. Smollett faces the charge of disorderly conduct for allegedly filing a false report claiming two men attacked him last month, a Chicago Police Department spokesman tweeted Wednesday night.
Filing a false police report is disorderly conduct, according to Illinois code. A class 4 felony is punishable by one to three years, the code says. A bail hearing is anticipated for 1:30 p.m. CT Thursday, prosecutors said.
The January 28 video above shows two men shopping who police report are the men involved in the Smollett case. They paid in cash, said the owner, who wishes not to be identified.
