Justin Trudeau Admits He’s “Embarrassed” By Blackface

The Prime Minister of Canada started out as a young and vibrant politician that seemed to connect with the younger generation. His biggest draw for the newer generation was legalizing marijuana.

However, this week, controversy broke out about something from his past that included him in “blackface”. The world is still reacting to the situation and has been all over mainstream media.

The Prime Minister has made a statement that he is embarrassed by his past actions and is the reason why he never told the vetting team about these past incidents. “I never talked about this. Quite frankly, I was embarrassed,” Trudeau told reporters in Winnipeg Thursday. “It was not something that represents the person I’ve become, the leader I try to be and it was really embarrassing.”

According to the party’s rules for vetting candidates, a qualified nomination contestant “has a continuing obligation to disclose to the national campaign chair any information that could impact upon their acceptability as a qualified nomination contestant or as a candidate of the party.

“Failure to disclose such information constitutes non-compliance with these rules … and may result in the disqualification of a qualified nomination contestant.”
