180k Streams on Spotify, 15 year old Canadian hip hop artist and dancer, KALAN, releases latest summer single and music video entitled “How You Doin’”
Toronto, Ont. – 15 year old Toronto-based hip hop/pop artist, KALAN, releases his new single and music video “How You Doin”. It’s an upbeat track that features a slick drum beat, a vibrant horn section, and vocals that are almost acrobatic in their speed and complexity. “How You Doin’” was worked on by sound engineer Bryan ‘BC’ Cockett, and it was recorded at Kyngdom Studios in Cambridge, which is also where the music video was shot. It shows KALAN performing in an empty room that’s illuminated by a smooth mixture of blue and pink lights, covering both the walls and KALAN alike. There’s also some film grain that comes in and out of the video, making it seem tastefully old school at times. “How You Doin’” is KALAN’s latest creative project, but it won’t be his last. KALAN has been featured on YTV, the Rudy Blair Entertainment Media Podcast, and Blog Talk Radio.

KALAN’s previous summer song, “Zoom,” was released July 25, and it already has over 50k streams on Spotify. KALAN has several other hits, including “Can’t Tell Me” and “New World,” both of which will encourage you to be authentic and pursue your goals. The former has also been featured in Fortnite, a Battle Royale video game that’s been played by over 350 million people worldwide. KALAN knows how to write originals, but he also knows how to give credit to those who’ve inspired him on his journey. In 2019, he posted a dance tribute to Juice WRLD, a key inspiration to his style.
“How You Doin’ is the kind of song that celebrates the start of new relationships and the excitement that goes along with it” says KALAN.
KALAN was born and raised in Toronto. He started dancing when he was 9 years old, but he began rapping and writing music when he was 11. He put out his first single, “Motivate,” when he was 13. His first EP, “New World” came out one year later. KALAN has already gotten widespread recognition for his work. He has over 1.2 million views on his Youtube channel and 5,000 followers across all social media platforms. He has been featured on YTV’s the Zone. Furthermore, KALAN has performed in multiple dance battles across Canada, including the 2018 Breakin’ Convention at Toronto’s Sony Centre.
He stands out with his signature dance style and blazingly fast wordplay. Some of his inspirations include Logic, Juice WRLD, Michael Jackson, and The Kid Laroi. KALAN has faced and overcome many personal challenges in his life. He lost his mother to breast cancer when he was six years old, and in 2017, he almost ended his dance career by breaking his arm at the elbow while doing a flip. However, he healed and pushed forward, because that’s the kind of person that he is.
