Kanye West has been on a mission to expose the music industry practices and in doing so he has caused critics and fellow rappers to expose him. In the case of rapper turned pastor, Mase, the Harlem World iconic hip hop artist believes West to be a hypocrite over his path to Christianity.
Mase was one of the hottest rap artists in the 1990’s and was a big star on Diddy’s “Bad Boy Records” label. He would eventually leave the hip hop world and secular music to pursue being a pastor.
Kanye West has shown his dedication to his faith in the last year by removing himself from secular music to do more gospel hip hop. Mase’s departure saw the former Bad Boy call out the industry for its crooked ways.
On a song with Kanye West entitled “Devil In A New Dress”, the rapper gave a line towards his favorite rapper, Mase by stating, “Don’t leave when you’re hot, that’s how Ma$e screwed up”. With the recent rants by Kanye, Mase took to social media to call him out.
West in a late night or early morning statement on Twitter addressed Mase.
Ma$e is right about that line … I always felt funny about that line … Ma$e is one of my favorite rappers and I based a lot of my flows off of him … I’m the king of “ooh can I get away with this bars” so I reap what I sow when the next generation does the same to me.
