Act I of “jeen-yuhs” arrives on Netflix Wednesday, February 16th.
On Friday, February 4th, the platform delivered the nearly three-minute-long visual, which takes us back in time twenty-one years to the early days of Ye’s career, long before he had established himself as the the billionaire Kanye West we know of today.
Directing the Creative Control and TIME Studios-backed trilogy is the filmmaking duo of Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah, two names that should ring as quite familiar for longtime Ye fans. At a private screening in New York last month, TIME Studios president Ian Orefice detailed how personally “inspiring” he considered the doc to be.
“They were able to capture, not just the footage, but with the empathy of Coodie’s camera, the most special story that I’ve ever seen. … This film is inspiring,” Orefice said.

Fans will have a chance to see Act 1 of jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy in select theaters on Feb. 10, with the Netflix rollout kicking off on Feb. 16 and continuing across three weeks. And if current (and publicly announced) plans hold true, Ye fans will also be receiving that Donda sequel this month. Future is executive producing the new album.
