The Los Angeles Police Department is reportedly investigating the elevator footage of Quavo and Saweetie which was released online after their break-up.
Saweetie confirmed the couple were no longer an item on Twitter by posting, “I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character,” she said at the time. Quavo made a public statement to counter his ex soon after.
“I had love for you and disappointed you did all that,” he said. “You are not the woman I thought you were. I wish you nothing but the best.”
The minute and a half footage that is being looked at took place in 2020 and appears to show Saweetie swinging at Quavo. The footage was taken at an apartment building in North Hollywood where Saweetie was renting at the time.
TMZ is reporting that LAPD detectives have watched the video. Now, the department reportedly wants to meet with both Quavo and Saweetie. The incident states law enforcement sees the situation “could be considered an instance of domestic violence” in which “both parties are in the wrong.”
Police are said in Thursday’s report to be aiming to figure out what happened prior to and immediately after what’s seen in the elevator footage. From there, per the report, any potential case would be handed off to the city attorney.
