Hip Hop biopics on the big screen have been hit and miss over the years with the exception of “Straight Outta Compton” which delved into the lives of N.W.A. The 2009 Notorious  film saw Jamal Woolard portray rap great Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace in a biopic. Jamal Woolard who was more known as an underground hip hop artist from New York before the film, was praised for his portrayal of Biggie Smalls, but Naturi Naughton (who recently got slammed by 50 Cent on IG over her Power role) did not have the same fondness by onlookers for her role as the iconic Lil Kim.

In a recent interview with  Hollywood Unlocked, Lil Kim discussed the biopic after being questioned about her thoughts on the film.

“I’m gonna touch on this briefly because I think everybody already knows my answer to this, but I hated everything about that movie,” as Lil Kim refers to past statements. “I hated it. Wasn’t involved in it. I actually had to get my lawyers involved which I ended up getting a check from it. That was the only reason I was [like] whatever.”

Naturi has spoke about Lil’ Kim’s disapproval of her role in the past as well. “I don’t like the way she’s been disrespectful about it. I wasn’t even like, basically blaming her, but she did like a whole documentary coming at me,” Kim said. The rapper decided to let it go because she knew that Naturi “didn’t want this smoke.”

Lil Kim did not like how the film was created with the lack of her input and voiced “without my permission.” and stated “I was not okay with that!… I would have never picked her. Never, ever, ever. She has nothing in common with me. Nothing. No, seriously. I said it already, so I’m not gonna sit here and act like I didn’t say these things.”

Lil Kim recently revealed with Billboard, that  she would want to hand pick the person playing her for the biopic and would be for her to  return to her hometown to find some talent. “When I do do the movie of my life I’m going to go back to Brooklyn and I will hold auditions until I find the perfect person. If that is Teyana [Taylor] or Lil Mama or whoever it is, it’s gotta be perfect.” Who do you think should play Lil Kim in a movie?
