The iconic Mary J. Blige has come a long way from Yonkers to Hollywood. She is going to star in the new spinoff show for Power entitled Ghost.

Her music has touched the hearts of many worldwide due to her living up to the title of “Queen of Soul”. This has caused many listeners to feel a close connection to the singer.

Mary J. Blige recently sat down for a virtual chat with Hip Hollywood, and during the conversation, an endearing term her fans call her “Auntie” was brought up. She was asked if she was okay with the title. She responded, “Why can’t I just be your sister? There’s women that are like, way older than me calling me ‘Auntie.’ C’mon,” the singer said. “Can I just be your sister? Your friend in your head?… The ‘Auntie’ is like…c’mon.”

“Not if you’re 10 years older than me, please don’t call me ‘Auntie,'” she added. The look on her face said it all as Mary J. Blige seemed annoyed that the title has become a phenomenon. Check out the snippet of her interview with Hip Hollywood below.
