Netflix Tanks With Post-lockdown Downturn

Netflix became a huge destination for people in 2020 when the coronavirus pandemic hit. With the serious tone of covid-19 causing many to wanting escapism from the reality of things, Netflix saw its numbers rise astronomically.

It became so hot that artists such as Chris Brown was suggesting that perhaps musicians should transition to the platform at the time to extend their reach of audience. However, with 2021’s first part of the year occurring, the big boom looks to be already over for the streaming platform.

With lockdowns ending, Netflix subscriptions are on a downward trajectory. The company fell short of its expansion target by 30% in the first quarter of 2021. Are corporate pandemic success stories unravelling in 2021? WION’s Palki Sharma has the full report.
