The Megatron rapper has been quite busy of late with her online interactions. She recently spoke with fans from Saudi Arabia over her cancellation of a show in their region. The New York rapper also spoke about an incident that occurred during a concert in Jamaica.
Now Nicki Minaj is involved in another drama concerning a blogger. Jermaine Dupri recently spoke about how he feels that female rappers don’t diversify their topics in their songs. An online writer echoed the same sentiments towards Nicki Minaj due to the rap star being a veteran in the game who may need a new approach to releasing music.
A blogger sent out a tweet that went viral and reached Nicki Minaj. On her personal account she stated “her opinion on rapper Nicki Minaj’s musical direction.” Now, she’s suing her former employer for firing her over that tweet.
According to The Blast, Tuwanna Thompson worked for Karen Civil’s website as an intern and now, she’s suing Civil, her website, and the CEO, Christian Emiliano after she was fired over a tweet about Nicki Minaj.
“You know how dope it would be if Nicki put out mature content?” She wrote. “Just reflecting on past relationships, being a boss, hardships, etc. She’s touching 40 soon, a new direction is needed.”
According to Thompson, Karen Civil fired her over the tweet and that Nicki Minaj personally made a threat to her in a DM. She was asked to remove the tweet at the same time as Nicki Minaj’s personal attack. She obliged to their request but the tweet had already been seen by too many people.
Thompson was later informed that not only is Nicki Minaj a client of Civil’s, but that she was also let go from her position. She claims Emiliano went on a rant on Twitter about her which has impacted her ability to land work.
She’s seeking $1.5M in damages for defamation.
