The murder of Nipsey Hussle captured the minds of people around the world. His death is still being mourned, especially in Los Angeles. However, the LAPD reportedly was investigating Hussle at the time of his passing according to a new Los Angeles Times article.
The intersection where the Marathon Clothing store was the target. What was under investigation was the strip mall at the corner of Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue. Nipsey Hussle, his property, and business associates were under a watchful eye from the law to determine if there were gang activities happening. Officials in the Police Department and city attorney’s office were reportedly looking into his alleged gang affiliations.
The investigation has not been deterred since the murder of Nipsey Hussle. The LAPD’s investigation may still lead to possible action against his business partners who were sold the land earlier this year for $2.5 million.
Hussle was a young entrepreneur that felt he needed to give back to his neighborhood. Part of his plan was to prevent gentrification by making an “important investment” to create new apartments in the area. Also known as “Neighborhood Nip”, he would sometimes provide gang affiliates jobs and tried to assist former inmates who endured prison time for gang-related crimes.
