In 2020, Will Smith and Janet Hubert—the original “Aunt Viv” from the ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ series reunited with one another and made peace during a 30th Anniversary special that aired on HBO Max. Since then, Will Smith has been in the headlines after he slapped Chris Rock in the middle of the Oscars stage this past week. Now, Hubert has come to the defense of Smith, and named a few people she almost ran down on herself.
Via Instagram, Hubert said, “Some of y’all need to stop coming for people on their Instagram page and on their Twitter page or whatever, talking this kinda smack you wanna talk, and thinking we ain’t gonna smack back. Sometimes you get smacked back.”
The actor made it clear Smith is “a grown a** man” and that she is a “grown a** old woman,” and continued saying, “[Will] ain’t gotta tell me what to say, I ain’t kissing nobody’s a**, but I will kick it.” Hubert named a few people who she could have put her hands on but chose to get at them verbally instead. Hubert called out Wendy Williams, Tamron Hall, and more. She told everyone with negative comments to stay in their lane, and there won’t be an issue.
