This past week was the birthday of hip hop legend Biggie Smalls.
The album cover for Ready To Die was his debut album and it instantly caught people’s attention with a cute baby on the cover. Many people have told stories about Notorious BIG.
One story that was a mystery until 2011 included the question of who was the baby on the album cover. It was discovered that Keithroy Yearwood, is the baby who is on one of the most iconic hip hop albums ever. Yearwood was paid $150 for the photo, but his place in history is priceless. XXL managed to find Yearwood on social media and he’s all grown up now. The album is about 25 years old now and has received an update.
Back in September 2010, hip-hop blog RapRadar.com asked Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs if he knew the identity of the child. “That’s a baby we just found, you know what I’m saying?” he said. “We did casting for somebody who looked like Big. That’s how he was found.”
In 2011, Yearwood let it be known he was grateful for the opportunity. “It’s an honor to be on this album. I was chosen out of all of these kids. I guess it was the afro,” he explained. “This album here is one of the best rap albums to ever come out.
