Nicki Minaj had a 2019 where she “retired” and got married to Kenneth Petty. It seemed like the New York rapper was slowing down. Critics such as DJ Akademiks were proclaiming that her music was no longer wanted from fans although her song “Megatron” had hit number one on Itunes.
The immense drop off of that single on the charts had many writing Nicki Minaj off. However, here we are in early 2020 and Nicki Minaj’s new single “Yikes” has become the first song by a female artists to hit number one on Itunes chart since “Megatron”.
