The year 2020 has been a turbulent year of viruses, vaccines, racism, protests, and riots. One of the biggest names in the entertainment industry is Oprah Winfrey who also happens to be in the handful of black billionaires in the United States. She has been criticized in the past for not doing enough for racial issues or lack of awareness in her television empire.
The iconic celebrity plans to change all that with her new talk show on Apple TV. She has alluded in an interview that she plans to unite the nation through the “Oprah Conversation”.
She has received backlash for commentary she did in an episode concerning race. The Billionaire took to task the systemic racism in the USA that causes “white privilege” and “white advantage” in society.
Oprah Winfrey’s past of chastising powerful black men who have been accused of serious allegations has come back to haunt her with legends such as the Michael Jackson special she created for “Leaving Neverland” documentary series on HBO. Some believe Oprah has helped to confirm stereotypes of black men without giving them due process of defense.
Then there those who bring up the relationship Oprah has with Harvey Weinstein and the issues of sexual molestation allegations thrown towards her all girls school in Africa. However, with these lingering aspects surrounding her, does it negate the points she was making in her new show? You be the judge on Oprah’s comments in the video below.
