R. Kelly was convicted of multiple charges, including sex trafficking, and is awaiting his sentencing. Frank Brown is accused of shooting 12 people inside a subway train in Brooklyn, NY a few weeks ago, and is currently awaiting trial. Both men are being held in the Metropolitan Detention Center in NYC. Since both are deemed “high-risk inmates”, they are being held in the same unit. Exclusive sources tell the Daily News that the two men always sit and eat together inside the jail and frequently spend time together.
TALK AND RECREATION TOGETHER
“They talk about TV shows. They go out to rec together. They’re buds,” said a source familiar with the situation to the Daily News. Kelly’s lawyer, Jennifer Bonjean, says that the friendship is not a big deal because Kelly can’t control who he interacts with inside the jail.
“Mr. Kelly is not in control of who is he is housed with,” Bonjean said. “A friend is someone you voluntarily hang out with.” One of the sources also claims that the “King of R&B” uses his music to lift the spirits inside the jail. They detailed a time when Kelly silenced the visiting room at MDC with an a cappella rendition of “I Believe I Can Fly”. They say that the impromptu concert wasn’t unusual because Kelly always in there singing his lil heart out as if he’s on a world tour.
“He does live performances and all,” one of the sources said. R. Kelly will once again hit the courts in the summer for more legal wranglings concerning underage girls.
