When Megan Thee Stallion was shot, she shared on Instagram that she received a bouquet of flowers from Rihanna in 2020, but in 2022 it appears the SavageXFenty founder has distanced herself from the Houston rapper.
On social media, there are many sleuths who take notice of who follows who and who unfollows who. People noticed that Rihanna stopped following Megan Thee Stallion recently. The fans also discovered that the Barbadian pop princess removed the “Savage” hip hop artist from her brand account for Savage X Fenty.
This is a distinct and deliberate move as she has been a brand ambassador for Rihanna’s lingerie line since May of 2020. She was featured in the company’s summer 2020 social media campaign titled #SavagexTheeStallion. At the time, Rihanna said, “Meg is the energy we were looking for,” and that “She is a risktaker with an attitude, character, and personality.”
It is suspicious to see Rihanna make a move like this on social media with a mainstream rapper representing her line. It wouldn’t be the first time Riri has dropped someone for public relations reasons. As we know, Drea was dropped after making unkind words about women and domestic abuse. She was then replaced by Megan Thee Stallion herself right around the time of the Tory Lanez drama. Meg was also invited to Rihanna’s coveted “Diamond Ball” event soon after.
The two have made public appearances in the past and both are on the Roc Nation music label. Rihanna also dropped Megan’s sponsorship, but there could be reasons for seeing the distancing of the clothing line with the Houston rapper. Maybe her contract is up or got a new deal with another lingerie line. There is talk of a lot of big artists quietly unfollowing Megan Thee Stallion and it may have to do with finding out something surrounding the case with Tory Lanez.
Even if one considers that as a conspiracy theory, it can’t be denied that Rihanna dropping Megan Thee Stallion from the official Savage X Fenty site is little bit suspicious. History of actions of removing brand ambassadors by Rihanna occurs when that representative is caught up in controversy, especially if it relates to domestic violence, such as the case with Drea Michelle and Ari Fletcher.
