Salt N Pepa Receive Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star

LEGENDS & ICONS OF HIP HOP - Wanda Davidson Post

It’s Old School Saturday and WorldWide Entertainment TV wants to congratulate the groundbreaking female rap group Salt N Pepa on receiving their Hollywood Star Walk Of Fame induction.

On Nov. 4, Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton were joined by Deidra “DJ Spinderella” Roper in a reunion to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Salt-N-Pepa.

While receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Spinderella touched on the “ups and downs” the trio have experienced together since forming Salt-N-Pepa in the ’80s.

“I have to thank you for those lessons because it wasn’t just the music to me,” she said, “it was our relationship and that means everything to me.”

Likewise, both Salt and Pepa were grateful for the honor as they reflected on their decades-long careers. “Keep the faith,” Salt told the crowd. “Your setback is a setup for your comeback.”

Meanwhile, Pepa said she’d “never thought” should would receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “It was dedication. It was hard work,” she said. “I was in the studio hours, days, nights, weeks.”

Noting how hip hop “has lasted for the women,” Pepa also encouraged artists to “keep empowering each other.”

“I fought for this,” she added. “I said I’m going to get my name on this ground and I did it.”

The reunion marked the trio’s first public appearance together since Spinderella’s 2019 exit from the group and subsequent lawsuit against her former bandmates.

In the lawsuit, obtained by E! News, Spinderella sued Salt and Pepa for unpaid royalties, multiple breaches of contract and fraud after she was allegedly fired from the group in an email. The case was dismissed with prejudice—meaning that Spinderella cannot refile her claims—in December 2019, according to court documents.
