It was announced that Nicki Minaj cancelled her show that was to take place in Saudi Arabia. Under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and his son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the nation is under rule where many human rights are not obliged for women.
Nicki Minaj felt the need to hear from her fans in that region and went online to reach out to them. She wanted to hear their opinions on her decision.
“Saudi Arabia: I see some of your comments & I want to respond directly to my fans. Voice your opinions here.”Nicki Minaj
The New York rapper received a ton of messages and learned of personal atrocities that some of her fanbase from Saudi Arabia had to deal with.
“Please don’t let us down,” wrote one user, as the “Anaconda” hitmaker replied, “I love you guys. Can women go to the concert without a man? Pls (please) answer.”
The star received mixed responses; one fan insisted “yes lol the media fabricated everything”, while another wrote, “not without a guardian… sad.”
Nicki Minaj wanted fans to give her an answer about: “Can an openly gay person go to the concert without being arrested?”
LGBTQ fans could only attend “undercover,” one told the star, “queen (they’re) stoning us here,” prompting her to write: “stoning you for what? That’s insane.”
Then there were people who were questioning Nicki Minaj’s sincerity over finding out what truly goes down in Saudi Arabia. Did she only go on twitter for a PR Stunt to save face in Saudi Arabia?
