The school alerted students there was a shooting off campus at the Parkview Homes on Baxter street reported by 11Alive News.
A woman was shot near the University of Georgia campus Monday afternoon, police said.
First responders are on the scene at Weir Circle, just off Baxter Street. The woman was taken to the hospital, Athens-Clarke County police spokesman Lt. Shaun Barnett told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, but her condition was not released.
UGA tweeted an alert around 3:30 p.m. about an off-campus shooting at Parkview Homes. The university advised all students and staff to avoid the area.

ACCPD continues to investigate an off-campus shooting in Parkview Homes on Baxter St. Police have determined there is no longer an immediate danger to campus.

There was also a shooting at Perimeter Mall earlier in the day.
