Beyonce is in full media blitz mode for the promotion of The Lion King. She plays Nala in the upcoming movie and was highly anticipated for an appearance. The movie had a red carpet premiere at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Many celebrities showed up for the event such as Steph Curry, Chance The Rapper, and more.
However, as usual it was Beyonce who had people talking the most with her appearance with daughter Blue Ivy. They had braided hairstyles together, but it’s Beyonce’s that stood out for its historical nature.
Fans are claiming Beyonce has channeled the icon, Josephine Baker, by paying homage to her style of yesteryear. Historians would be remiss not to see the striking resemblance of the celebrated performer, World War II spy, and activist who wore a “similar, slicked-down wavy look in the 1920s.”
This is not the first time that Beyonce has paid homage to the American icon. In 2006, Beyonce wore her famous banana skirt, during a Deja Vu Fashion Rock performance with her husband Jay Z.
