Today in history for #TBT is looking at the Mary J. Blige releases classic “Share My World” on this date with classic songs such as “I Can Love You” featuring Lil Kim.

Share My World is the third studio album by American R&B singer Mary J. Blige, released by MCA on Earth Day, April 22, 1997. The album became Blige’s first to open at number one on the US Billboard 200 album chart.

The “I Can Love You” single was ritten by Mary, Kim, her sister Latoya and Rodney Darkchild Jenkins, the song bumps right off the top highlighting Jenkins signature masterful use of the 808. The song was the second single off of this third album. It peaked at number 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 2 on the R & B charts.

Jerkins says Mary J. Blige instantly wanted to work with him after hearing the beat for “I Can Love You.” The producer said that his producer fees increased as a result of working with the R&B legend in an interview below with Vladtv.
