#TBT Stevie Wonder States All Lives Matter When Black Lives Matter

The legendary Stevie Wonder stopped to tell his audience that “black lives matter… because we are the original people of this world”. He made this proclamation at the closing of London’s British Summer Time Festival.

He took the time to tell the crowd that everyone had black ancestry due to having origin from the original people from Africa.

“Yes, all life does matter, but the reason that I say ‘Black Lives Matter’ is because we are the original people of this world,”

He explained why everyone should love one another because loving one another is loving yourself at the same.

“So in essence, everyone here has some black in you. You’ve all got some soul in you, so stop denying your culture. Love yourselves, all of yourselves, no matter what colour you might be.”

Stevie Wonder’s powerful words come on the heels of the 2016 shooting death of two men, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, at the hands of police in the summer. Five officers were then shot and killed at a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas shortly thereafter.
