Biz Markie supported Barack Obama on his way to becoming the first ever Black President and Obamas pay it back with letter to his widow.
Hall added that she received the letter unsolicited last week and was stunned to have received anything at all. Following Biz’s passing, Hall is starting a fund in his name with hopes to further raise money for the organizations he was supporting while he was alive. The fund is called the “Biz Markie’s Just a Friend Charity Fund,” named after one of the late rapper’s most iconic and memorable hit songs.
“Biz created a legacy of artistry that will forever be celebrated by his industry peers and his beloved fans whose lives he was able to touch through music, spanning over 35 years,” wrote rep Jenni Izumi at the time. “He leaves behind a wife, many family members and close friends who will miss his vibrant personality, constant jokes and frequent banter. We respectfully request privacy for his family as they mourn their loved one.”
