Big L was a rising star in the hip hop world in the late 1990’s. On February 15, 1999, Big L was killed at 45 West 139th Street in his native Harlem after being shot nine times in the face and chest in a drive-by shooting. Gerard Woodley, one of Big L’s childhood friends, was arrested three months later for the crime. Pictured above is Woodley with Big L to the far right.
Many people believe that Big L had the makings to be a huge star at the level of someone such as Jay Z. At the age of 24, the sky was the limit for this young man and we will never know.
