Lebron James is known for his extraordinary talent on the court and his social awareness off the court, but he has once again drawn the ire of former President Donald Trump.
According to New York Post, The NBA star LeBron James on Thursday received flack from some people and media for what was deemed as an inflammatory tweet about the Ohio cop who shot and killed 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant.
The controversy began with the following statement from James, “This isn’t about one officer. it’s about the entire system and they always use our words to create more racism,” he said, adding he was “so damn tired of seeing Black people killed by police.”
“I am so desperate for more ACCOUNTABILITY,” he wrote.
Donald Trump who has been accused this past January for inciting riots in Washington jumped on the bandwagon of people blaming James for causing more division in the United States.
“LeBron James should focus on basketball rather than presiding over the destruction of the NBA,” Trump said in a statement.
“His RACIST rants are divisive, nasty, insulting, and demeaning,” the statement said. “He may be a great basketball player, but he is doing nothing to bring our Country together!”
This is not the first time the NBA star and reality star have clashed online over disputes concerning the condition of Black America and the policing system. It may not be the last either as both men are adamant about getting their views across on what needs to be done to help the country.
