Drake may be getting ready to take his genre-hopping career somewhere unexpected: country music.

The Toronto superstar previewed what appears to be his own remix of country singer Ella Langley’s massive hit “Choosin’ Texas” during a DJ set in Toronto, adding another chapter to growing speculation surrounding the two artists.

Video from the appearance shows Drake playing a version of the record featuring his own vocals. The snippet trades some of the original’s upbeat country energy for a slower, atmospheric R&B treatment.

No official release has been announced.

From Ella Langley’s concert to Drake’s DJ set

The preview is significant because it comes shortly after Drake appeared at one of Langley’s concerts.

Drake attended a stop on Langley’s tour in Arkansas, where footage showed him enjoying “Choosin’ Texas” from the audience. The appearance immediately fueled speculation about whether the two stars could eventually collaborate.

Now Drake has taken things a step further. Rather than simply supporting the song publicly, he has apparently recorded his own interpretation and debuted part of it in his hometown.

Billboard Canada reported that Drake’s rendition uses his own vocals, borrows the chorus melody and places the song over a slowed-down beat. The outlet also noted his recent Arkansas appearance and his public praise for Langley’s songwriting.

The sequence—concert appearance followed by an unreleased remix—makes the possibility of an official collaboration harder to dismiss as ordinary fan speculation. Still, neither Drake nor Langley has announced a commercial release.

“Choosin’ Texas” has become one of 2026’s defining crossover records. Billboard Canada reported that the song had reached 16 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 in Canada and 19 weeks atop the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

That gives Drake an opportunity to attach his voice to a song already reaching far beyond traditional country audiences. It also fits a career that has rarely remained inside conventional hip-hop boundaries.

Drake has incorporated dancehall, Afrobeats, house, R&B and UK sounds into major releases while collaborating across genres and international scenes. A country crossover would represent another expansion rather than a complete reinvention.
