Racquel Palmer Says Pop Smoke Helped Her Become Blue | WWETV BRIC TV
Racquel Palmer Reveals Pop Smoke Helped Her Get Into Character as Blue Ahead of WWETV BRIC Broadcast
Racquel Palmer says Pop Smoke’s music helped put her in the mindset of Blue on All the Queen’s Men, revealing that music plays an important role in how she develops her characters.
WorldWide Entertainment TV is bringing Racquel Palmer’s story to BRIC TV / Brooklyn Free Speech, and one moment from her interview creates a fitting connection between television, acting and Brooklyn music culture.
During her conversation with WorldWide Entertainment TV, Racquel Palmer explained that she creates a soundtrack for each character she portrays — and for Blue, her formidable character on All the Queen’s Men, that soundtrack included Pop Smoke.
“Each of my characters have soundtracks,” Palmer explained. “It’s sort of my thing.”
According to Palmer, music helps her move beyond simply learning dialogue and into the emotional world of the character.
She explained that listening to particular music helps “put me in a mindset of the character,” adding that Pop Smoke was part of Blue’s soundtrack.
For Palmer, the process is similar to the way people use music in everyday life.
When someone wakes up and chooses a certain song to establish their mood for the day, Palmer says she uses music in much the same way when preparing to perform.
“And that’s no different than Blue,” she said.
Pop Smoke and the Sound of Blue
The revelation adds an interesting layer to one of Palmer’s most recognizable television roles.
Blue is known for her tough, controlled and intimidating presence on All the Queen’s Men. In a separate portion of the WWETV interview, Palmer explained that she drew some of Blue’s no-nonsense personality from members of her own New Jersey family, while bringing more of her personal softness into Blue’s relationship with Dime.
The Pop Smoke connection shows another element of that preparation.
Rather than simply approaching Blue through dialogue or wardrobe, Palmer developed an entire musical atmosphere around the character.
For a BRIC TV audience, the reference carries additional resonance. Pop Smoke became closely associated with Brooklyn’s modern hip-hop sound, making his music an especially fitting part of a WWETV segment airing through Brooklyn Free Speech.
Racquel Palmer Featured on Woman Shaping the Screen
Racquel Palmer is featured in WorldWide Entertainment TV’s November BRIC special, “Woman Shaping the Screen,” alongside actress Rita Dominic.
The program highlights women building careers, creating opportunities and shaping entertainment both in front of and behind the camera.
Palmer’s interview goes beyond All the Queen’s Men. She also discusses her unconventional effort to get Tyler Perry’s attention by placing her face on billboards, the public reaction that followed, eventually working on Perry’s productions, building Palmer House Studios and her desire to create opportunities for emerging performers.
She also speaks about the changing entertainment industry, including her opposition to AI-generated performers replacing human actors.
But the Pop Smoke moment offers a more intimate glimpse into Palmer’s creative process — revealing the music behind the character viewers came to know as Blue.
