Big Mama German Says CupcakKe Crowd “Saw a Star”
Big Mama German Says CupcakKe Crowd “Saw A Star” During Breakout Greenville Performance
Big Mama German says opening for CupcakKe gave her one of the clearest signs yet that her music and stage presence can connect far beyond the audience she has already built.
During an upcoming WorldWide Entertainment TV interview, the South Carolina-born, Atlanta-based rapper reflected on performing before CupcakKe’s audience in Greenville, South Carolina. Big Mama German described the appearance as the best live show of her career so far and said the crowd understood her energy almost immediately.
“They saw a star as soon as I walked on the stage,” she told WWETV.
For an independent artist developing an unconventional mix of rap, alternative music, pop influences and theatrical presentation, that response carried particular meaning. Big Mama German has performed in rooms where audiences were less familiar with her sound or unsure how to respond. The CupcakKe crowd was different.
“I felt so welcome and so accepted,” she said. “I’ve been to shows before and people don’t get it. But they got it.”
A Crowd That Immediately Understood the Vision
Big Mama German said audience members quickly picked up on her lyrics and participated throughout the performance, even though many were likely experiencing her music for the first time.
The response stayed with her long after the show ended.
“I was on a high from that for weeks,” she said.
That moment represented more than a successful opening slot. It provided real-world proof that Big Mama German’s natural audience may extend beyond the markets and rooms where she first began developing her career.
Although she was raised between Hopkins and Columbia, South Carolina, Big Mama German has since expanded her career into Atlanta, where she says greater resources and visibility have helped her connect with people who understand her larger creative vision.
In her WWETV conversation, she explained that unfamiliar audiences sometimes receive her differently from people who have watched her career develop locally. New listeners encounter the complete presentation without an older or more limited idea of who she is supposed to be.
The CupcakKe performance became one of the strongest examples of that dynamic.
Building Music For Participation
Big Mama German does not want her live performances to feel like audiences are simply watching content being created for social media.
She appreciates fans recording and sharing moments from her shows, but she also wants people to remain present, dance, interact and become part of the experience.
That approach will become even more important with her upcoming single, “SLAY!,” featuring Ferg Berserk.
Big Mama German describes the record as an aggressive alternative and nu-metal-influenced collaboration designed for high-energy performances, crowd movement and mosh-pit participation.
The accompanying music video draws from a visual concept she describes as “Hot Wheels meets Bratz,” combining fast cars, racing imagery, rock-star energy and the doll-inspired presentation that has become part of her developing brand.
She says Ferg Berserk introduced her to a more direct nu-metal sound and challenged her to access a louder, more aggressive side of her artistry.
The two artists did not enter the collaboration with a rigidly planned concept. Instead, Big Mama German says Ferg established the song’s foundation before she entered the studio and responded with her own personality, writing and performance style.
The result, she declared during the interview, could be the “best song of 2026.”
Refusing To Be Placed In One Box
Big Mama German’s genre range is central to both her appeal and the challenge of marketing her.
She moves between hip-hop, pop, dancehall, alternative music and darker theatrical records. Rather than treating those styles as separate identities, she sees them as different parts of one complete artist.
That versatility has not always been easy for people around her to understand.
During the WWETV interview, Big Mama German said some previous attempts to manage her career felt restrictive because people tried to place her inside one recognizable category. She believes the right team will need to understand not only her music, but also the choreography, fashion, visual direction, hair, makeup and larger world surrounding it.
“You can’t market every single girl the same way,” she said.
Her ambition is not simply to release records. Big Mama German wants to create an expansive entertainment brand incorporating music, fashion, cosmetics, merchandise, voice acting and the fantasy world behind her German Chocolate Factory concept.
The Shea Marie Podcast Returns
The full Big Mama German interview will also mark the return of The Shea Marie Podcast, a WorldWide Entertainment TV series created in honour of Shea Marie.
The revival carries added meaning because Big Mama German repeatedly expressed ideas that reflected Shea Marie’s own beliefs about women in music: that image should not replace talent, that women deserve recognition for their bars and writing, and that versatility should be treated as an artistic strength rather than a marketing weakness.
During the interview, Big Mama German discussed writing her own music, valuing wordplay and song structure, rejecting 360 record deals and retaining control of her masters.
She also spoke about the women who influenced her understanding of the rap crown, including Lil’ Kim, Nicki Minaj, Queen Latifah, Foxy Brown, Eve and Trina.
Big Mama German believes a future reign of her own would represent another “cultural reset” while also opening doors for women who follow her.
The complete conversation will premiere July 21 through WorldWide Entertainment TV, the same day “SLAY!” with Ferg Berserk is scheduled to arrive on streaming platforms with its official music video.
For Big Mama German, the CupcakKe performance was an early confirmation that the audience for her vision already exists.
Now, the larger goal is making sure the rest of the world sees what that Greenville crowd recognized immediately.
